Parliamentary Questions Raised on Defence Housing in Greenland

Member of Inatsisartut Jens NapãtôK’ (Naleraq) has submitted a set of parliamentary questions to Naalakkersuisut concerning the Danish Defence’s use of housing in Greenland.

The questions request information on how many housing units the Defence currently uses in Greenland and how these units are distributed across towns and settlements.

Jens NapãtôK’ also asks for a breakdown of the housing by ownership and leasing arrangements, including how many units are rented through publicly owned housing companies—such as INI, Iserit, Illuut A/S, and municipal housing companies—and how many are leased from private landlords.

In addition, the questions seek clarification on how the housing units are used, distinguishing between accommodation for permanent personnel, temporarily deployed personnel, and housing used for guests or military exercises.

The inquiry further asks Naalakkersuisut to provide data on how the number of Defence housing leases has developed over the past ten years. Finally, it requests information on the total payments received by the Government of Greenland and the municipalities for publicly owned housing units used by the Defence.

The parliamentary questions were received by Inatsisartut on 20 November 2025 and forwarded to Naalakkersuisut on 21 November 2025. Naalakkersuisut is expected to respond in accordance with parliamentary procedures.
