Naalakkersuisut has provided an update on the supply situation in Tasiilaq and East Greenland, following recent public concerns about disruptions and shortages.
In a press release, the Department of Housing, Infrastructure and Outer Districts thanked residents for their recent inquiries, noting that citizen feedback has helped draw attention to challenges in maintaining stable supply chains in the region.
According to Naalakkersuisut, meetings have been held with relevant stakeholders and supply companies to identify both the causes of the current challenges and possible solutions. Based on these discussions, the involved parties are now jointly working to clarify the issues and develop measures aimed at optimising supply chains and ensuring long-term stability.
Naalakkersuisoq Aqqaluaq B. Egede stated:
“I am pleased that Naalakkersuisut’s supply companies have indicated that there are realistic solutions to ensure a stable supply in Tasiilaq. I will continue to follow the matter closely, and it is my expectation that the companies’ solutions will benefit residents as soon as possible.”
Naalakkersuisut emphasized that particular attention has been given to securing the supply of date-sensitive goods, while KNI has confirmed that the necessary winter supplies of long-lasting goods are already in place.
Residents are encouraged to contact KNI or KNI’s local store council if they have additional requests or suggestions regarding the product selection at KNI’s store in Tasiilaq.
