Next Session of the Inatsisartut Set for April 2026
The Inatsisartut has announced the schedule for its next ordinary sitting. The Spring Session 2026 (FM26) will begin on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
The deadline for submitting proposals to be placed on the agenda for the Spring Session is Tuesday, 10 March 2026 at 12:00 noon.
Ordinary and Extraordinary Sessions
The Inatsisartut meets at least twice a year for ordinary sessions. The parliamentary year begins on the second Friday of September and continues until the same Friday the following year.
Extraordinary sessions may be convened whenever the Speaker of the Inatsisartut deems it necessary. The Inatsisartut must also be summoned if requested by the Premier (Formand for Naalakkersuisut) or by at least half of the members. During extraordinary sessions, only the matters that formed the basis for the call are considered.
Role of the Presidium
During each session, the Presidium acts as the agenda committee, preparing recommendations for how proposals, questions and other items submitted for that session should be handled.
Ahead of each session, the Presidium distributes a list of proposals and questions expected to be debated, ensuring that members of the Inatsisartut are informed of the upcoming agenda.
